Sympton description

Symptoms of zinc deficiency appear on young leaves first. They show yellow patches in the interveinal areas (mottle leaf). Along the veins, an irregular green border remains. The youngest leaves look small and trim (little leaf) and are often upright.

Made worst by

Organic soils. High pH soils. Soils rich in phosphorus. Soils receiving high phosphorus application. Cold wet conditions.

Important for

Combats chlorosis. Prevents premature leaf fall. Gives healthier greener trees. Improves resistance to cold weather and late frosts. Improves bud development, flowering and fruit set.

Cause description

Zinc deficiency on leaves of orange Manganese deficiency causes similar symptoms.
