Wine Grape - Chlorosis

Symptoms
Boron deficiency symptoms on the leaves appear first as chlorosis on leaf margins. Chlorosis extends between the veins. Later leaf margins show red brown colour and die off . The main veins near them usually remain green.

Boron deficiency made worse by

Sandy soils
Alkaline soils
Soils low in organic matter
High levels of nitrogen
High levels of calcium
Cold wet weather
Periods of drought

Boron is important for

Improves fruit set
Gives more even ripening
Increases alcohol level in berries
Increases sugar level in berries

Grapevines: 150-250 kg/ha applied at bud break followed by 100 to 150 kg/ha application after flowering. 250-300 kg/ha application as post-harvest. For more detailed advice on rates and timings, contact your local Yara Agronomist.
